The Australian grand prix is currently raced just outside the city of Melbourne, in Albert Park. It has been the first race of the season for the last 24 years, and it is typically raced in mid-late March. It is a temporary track around Albert Park Lake. It is made of roads that are typically available to the public, which qualifies it as a street track. It is considered a high speed track, and drivers are at full throttle for around 77% of the lap.

The most successful driver is Michael Schumacher who has won the event 4 times, all with Ferrari. The track is currently the home grand prix of only one driver, Daniel Ricciardo. Despite multiple Australians competing in this grand prix, there has yet to be one that finish in the top three. This circuit got canceled at the beginning of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was not raced in 2020. However, it is set to be the season opener for the 2021 season once more.
